Every player starts with one village. You control the economy and military power of that one village. From there you conquer other players' villages in a neverending power struggle with tens of thousands of players. At some point you'll join a group of players in a tribe, and start fighting for even greater glory.

You can play the online rendition of Hammer of the Scots. It's a relatively popular 2 player wargame you can also buy in board form. The premise is William Wallace (Braveheart) rebelling for freedom against 'the man'. Both players will try to get nobles on their side and wage war in Scotland.

Take control of the entire assets of an empire in the early 14th century and guide your nation to complete soverign rule over Europe. Players in each game are limited so you will need to build close relationships or be left fighting alone...unless that's you want.

Panzer General 2 offers players the ability to control individual units on the side of the Allies or Axis in World War 2. Moves are given out on a hex based grid and seems similar to board games of the same type, but with a computer doing the hard stuff. It's a classic, free war game and one that should be checked out as long as you have an enthusiastic partner.
